People aren’t paying for a “Fractional CFO.” They pay for financial clarity, a clearer understanding of their profitability and peace of mind.
- Sharing Skills Not Solutions/Outcomes.
“Growth | Strategy | Leadership” are just keywords. Beyond that they mean nothing to your dream client. On the other hand, “Fixing broken ops so SaaS founders can scale faster” is much more intriguing.
- Impressing Peers Instead of Prospects
If your headline impresses your peers but leaves clients confused, it’s not doing the job it’s supposed to. Stop seeking validation and provide clarity to the audience you’re trying to sell to.
The 10-Second Fix
Rather than spending hours crafting a headline, think of it as a filter.
Use this simple formula:
Headline = who you help + the problem they face + the outcome you create.
Examples:
❌ “Fractional CFO | FP&A | Profitability”
✅ “I help $5–30M founders turn financial chaos into clarity”
❌ “Fractional CMO | Brand Strategy | Demand Gen”
✅ “Helping SaaS founders turn content into consistent pipeline”
❌ “Fractional COO | Growth Systems | Leadership”
✅ “I help eCom founders fix broken ops so they can scale faster”
When you do this, people don’t just see you, they understand you. And when they understand you, it’s easier to build trust.

- Who you help
- What problem you fix
